Thai New Year 2552

Photobucket

On Easter Sunday we visited Thai temple in Wheaton, Maryland to celebrate Thai New Year instead of decorating Easter egg. It was a fun day since we had to ride on trains and buses. It was a cold morning and wet too. There was a huge crowd of people everywhere. A lot of people were there to eat yummy Thai foods, to pay respect to monks and Buddha image or to be blessed by the head monk, some to see dancing, some to shop and some to do everything. For us we did just about everything mentioned above. Mommy and daddy took us inside the temple to visit with the head monk who will turn 83 shortly. We paid respect to the Buddha and waited for quite sometime in a long line for blessing. Mommy told the monk that we hadn't been to the temple since birth and needed to be blessed for good luck like many thai new borns. So, the monk said something in Bali-Sansakrit that we didn't understand. He tied little sacret strings around our wrists for good luck. He said that Anchalee was quite delightful and perky while Suwan was quiet and shy.
We ate lunch, watch some Miss New Year show and bought some plants and food home. All in all it was a good day!
We have some photos but they're still in the phone. If you like to see beautiful pictures of Thai dancing and kids playing Thai instruments, you can go to http://watthaidc.org

Later Alligator,
Suwan & Anchalee
